Forget Me

Everyone... All of us are just competing for attention. God bless the soul who is content with just him or herself. God bless the soul who in their loneliness finds happiness. I commend those who do not seek approval. I applaud those who don't care what others think of them.

"This is where I'm going."
"This is what I'm doing."
"This is who I'm with."
"This is what I'm thinking."

I don't care...

The world is a lonely place.

In coffee shops right now there are people on their laptops or faces stuck in their "smart phone" not aware of the life around them. Lost in their own world. We leave our lonely homes to go be alone with other people. We fight for the approval of those not near us on our laptops and phones and forget those right in front of us. Those who might just love and care for us for who we are.

Back to life...

I used to care. But not anymore...
We are alone and want attention. We want some sort of recognition. Some sign that others know we are still here. Some response to know that we are still cared about, thought about, loved or even hated. Just as long as we are not forgotten.

But is not that what it's all about? To love and to be loved.

I don't know...

To quote Mos Def...
"I give a damn if any fan recall my legacy
I'm tryin to live life in the sight of God's memory."

That sentiment seems closer to what I feel.

Everyone... All of us are just competing for attention. God bless the soul who is content with just him or herself. God bless the soul who in their loneliness finds happiness. I commend those who do not seek approval. I applaud those who don't care what others think of them.

I apologize for the interruption. I'll just go back to my world and you can go back to yours. I feel I didn't get my point across anyway.

From L.A. With Love

So I've been working on this mixtape for quite some time now. I'm finally done and I'm ready to release it to the world.

I always wanted to do a mixtape. But never had the motivation to do one. Traditionally a mixtape is a mix of your favorite songs on a actual tape. Remember tape? If you're too young that's okay I'll forgive your ignorance. The modern equivalent I guess would be a playlist that you burn on a cd or just play at get togethers or parties in itunes on your computer. Now when it comes to hip-hop. Mc's back in the day who couldn't afford a studio, beats, a producer or any of that fancy stuff would just rap over some other rapper song, compile all of it, call it a mixtape and slang it in the streets. Nowadays mc's make full on albums and call it a mixtape. Which in my opinion is kinda lame. Just do an album if you're gonna do an album. Anyway... Like I said I always wanted to do a mixtape but I always thought it should have a theme. One day I was driving and a bunch of old love songs came on the radio. I thought hey I could remix and redo some love songs. So I did! Later I came up with the title "From L.A. With Love". I did around 20 something songs. 10 made the actual album. Some I just looped and rapped over some I sampled and added various different elements such as drums and live claps. Some are actual songs. One is a cover of one of my favorite songs. So I guess you could say I did an "authentic" mixtape in the sense that it's a mix of different mixtape styles.

I say all this to say January 18th it comes out.
It's called From L.A. With Love.

At this time I will thank everyone who helped, encouraged, hyped, funded and made this project possible...

Dj Dinari on the mixes and for backing me at shows and being a dope Dj!
Khalil Sullins for the amazing pictures and artwork for the cover.
Jon Rezin, Aunticlare and Lua Rezin.
Oscar Degruy, Joy DeGruy and the whole DeGruy clan.
Sina Mossayeb aka Simo fo' Life.
Josh Owens, Angie and the kids. The Dixons!
Kidd From the Complex!
Solomon Coal, Rey Loo, Matu, Knows, Tel Quan Ness, Vahid Brooks.
DJ Krash and Mc V-Row!
Davari Abstract...

The list could go on forever but I'll stop here and thank every girl I've dated, hung out with, loved and liked who inspired the song "Love's Fool" on the album.

And last but not least I would like to thank Ethel Barrymore. I wish you were here...

Listen, download and spread the "love". From L.A. that is...

Go here to download for free on Jan 18th.
